Born Sebring, Florida.  Admitted to North Carolina Bar (1967), Missouri Bar (1968), and Florida Bar (1969); admitted to practice before all North Carolina Districts of the United States District Court; United States Court of Appeals, 4th Circuit; United States Claims Court; United States Tax Court; and the United States Supreme Court.  Education:  Emory University (B.A., 1964); University of North Carolina (J.D., 1967); New York University (L.L.M., Taxation, 1968).  Member:  North Carolina Bar Association.  Other Professional Affiliations: Raleigh Citizens Advisory Committee, 1972-73; Raleigh City Council, 1972-77; Chair, Standing Committee on Law and Finance; Chair, Standing Committee on Compensation; Chair, Mass Transit Committee; Chair, North Carolina Board/Anti-defamation League of B'nai B'rith, 1978-87; former member, Board of Directors of Hospice of Wake County, Wake County SPCA, Beth Meyer Synagogue; member, Board of Directors of Wake County Jewish Federation; Adjunct Professor of Law, Campbell University Law Review, 1978-85 (individual and corporate taxation and deferred compensation); Lecturer, North Carolina State University, 1978‑82.  Author:  "In Praise of Pension Reform," Campbell University Law Review, 1979; "ERISA Spendthrift Rules," Campbell University Law Review, 1988; over 100 articles related to taxation, Campbell University Law Observer; articles in the Florida Bar Journal and Journal of Taxation for Accountants.
